Our Mission

Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel’s mission is to perpetuate the religious principles and moral values of Judaism through worship, acts of social justice, study of Torah and community service.

As an inclusive community, we are proud of, and enriched by, our diverse congregation, and embrace the welcoming and progressive values of Reform Judaism.

TSTI is committed to developing and supporting a lifelong Jewish experience. It offers programs for members at all stages of their lives, from preschoolers and teens, to empty nesters and older adults. The Temple’s schools provide a progressive Jewish education to hundreds of children, from pre-K to Grade 12. Led by Rabbi Daniel Cohen, Rabbi Alexandra Klein, and Cantor Rebecca Moses, TSTI reaches out to new families and welcomes them to a vibrant community committed to the values and beliefs of Reform Judaism.

We commit to achieving our mission by creating a Jewish Congregation characterized by:

Worship: through prayer and other means of expressing spiritual connection

Study: both learning and teaching our texts, history and traditions

Faith: a sense of the sacred, of religious and moral obligations, and the covenant between God and the Jewish people

Social Justice: the mending of our world through individual and collective action – enhancing of individual dignity, encouragement of self-reliance, pursuit of peace and freedom, the wise use of our natural resources to enhance our lives and preserve a habitable planet for future generations

Observance and Celebration: the enhancement of communal, family and personal lives through Jewish observances and celebration in both the synagogue and the home

Love of Zion: the affirmation of our historic and spiritual bond to the land of Israel and the pursuit to strengthen a democratic, just and religiously pluralistic society in the State of Israel
