Children’s, Preteen & Family Services

Some of our services require tickets. Parents must remain in the building while their child(ren) is/are participating in programs and babysitting.

Community Houses    = denotes a Community Service open for all. Tickets are not required for these services, but you must pre-register.
EREV ROSH HASHANAH | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2

COME AS YOU ARE: A Sweet Start to the New Year – 5:30 pm (on the TSTI Lawn)     Community Houses
Join us for this intergenerational celebration of the new year, as we sing together with our wonderful High Holy Day band. Weather permitting, we’ll be outside, so dress casually. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and the whole family.

ROSH HASHANAH | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3

Children’s Program – 8:30 am (Grades K-5)
Start with a brief service with Student Cantor Shayna Burack, then enjoy an informal education program with interactive games and projects, led by Senior Director of Programming Tracy Horwitz. You must pre-register.

Preteen Program – 8:30 am (Grades 6-7)
Come together with peers for a service that will touch upon the High Holy Days’ hot topics, prayers through a modern lens, and ice breakers. Led by our Youth Engagement Coordinator Adam Baranker. You must pre-register.

Family Service – 2:30 pmCommunity Houses
Join Shawn Fogel, the TSTI clergy, and lots of guests for a service for families of all ages!

Tashlich – 4:00 pm (South Orange Duck Pond Boathouse – Locate on Google Maps) Community Houses
Gather with your TSTI community for a brief service of singing and reflection as we “cast away” the past year and begin anew. In this beautiful ritual, we throw small stones into the water to symbolize the cleansing of our spiritual “schmutz.”

YOM KIPPUR | SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12

BABYSITTING | AGES 2-5

During Early Morning Services (8:30 am) on Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur, we have child care available for potty trained, pre-k toddlers. You must register in advance. See your ticket request form to sign up.
