Class: We’ve Been Here Before: the Fractured Jewish Community of the 2nd Temple Period
The Jewish world today is complex. Just in America we have Jews belonging to different denominations or not connecting Jewishly at all. Once we expand beyond the borders of our country the makeup of the Jewish community becomes even more complex.
This is nothing new. In antiquity your community was just as fragmented and it is the interplay between different Jewish groups that gave rise to Rabbinic Judaism as we know it. In this session we will take a deeper dive into the various Jewish groups and their struggles with one another over two thousand years ago.
