Jewish Herstory: Looking at the Untold Stories of Jewish Women
Whoever is tasked with recording history gets to determine what (and who) is important, whose voices are in, whose are ignored and left out. So many women of ancient Judaism are voiceless in our traditional texts, not because they had nothing to say, but because they lived in a time when society was disinclined to hear them.
Over the course of three sessions together, we will study HERstory – the stories of incredible female characters in the Bible who are too often a mere footnote in our understanding of the Jewish past. By learning their stories and lifting up their voices, we will develop a fuller picture of the remarkable women who shaped our Jewish past, and how we can take their lessons into the future.
