TSTI Family Art Exhibit: Call for Artists
TSTI Family Art Exhibit: June 12 – November 4, 2022
Opening reception, Sunday, June 12, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
The Gallery at TSTI is excited to present our first in-person exhibition in 2022. We invite TSTI Members young and old, and all individuals associated with the Temple, to display their own original artwork created between January 2019 and now.
Each member may submit up to three original works of art. All painting media, sculpture, photography, drawing and mixed media are eligible. At least one art work per artist will be selected for the exhibition based on available space, at the discretion of the Art Committee.
We encourage all family members, both amateurs and more advanced, to submit their art work.
We will not accept nudes, images personifying God, or art with overt sexual or political content. Space and placement considerations will be determined solely by the Art Committee.
Two-dimensional images with a minimum size of 11”x14” and maximum dimensions of 24”x 36” (including frame) are strongly preferred. Larger pieces will be considered as space allows. Three-dimensional pieces may not exceed 14” x 15” x 21”.
Email jpegs or smart phone images of your submissions and contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 18, 2022. Label each image file with your last name, title of the work, and entry number, e.g., your name-title-1/3. (Aarts-Sunrise-1/3)
Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel will not participate in the sale of art. Artist contact information will be provided to attendees. If desired please Email your artist statement, background and contact information to email@example.com.
- Canvases must be wired. Edges can be taped or painted. All other two-dimensional submissions, including photography, must be framed and wired for hanging. Plexiglass is preferred. No photo, keyhole, triangle or sawtooth hangers will be accepted.
- Identification: Securely attach a label with your name, the title of the work, and the medium to the back of two-dimensional pieces or at the bottom of three-dimensional works.
- A signed Loan Agreement, available at tsti.org, must accompany all artwork at delivery. Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel does not provide insurance. If insurance for artwork is desired, individual artists must provide it.
Framing does not need to be done professionally; Target and Michael’s have decent frames for low costs. If you need some extra guidance with framing feel free to reach out to the Art Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Mona Lisa Frame Shop in Maplewood is offering a 25% discount on all framing that will be hung in The Gallery at TSTI. You must present your loan agreement to get the discount.
Two and three-dimensional works will be accepted on Sunday, June 5 from 4pm – 7pm. Artwork must be picked up in November (closer to the date we will inform you about the pick-up date and time). No storage is available. Please enter through the Religious School entrance—the middle doors facing the Temple parking lot.
